History
Since 1980, YMCA Childcare Resource Service (YMCA CRS) has been committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by enhancing the quality of child care and supporting families in San Diego County. Under the leadership of Jean Brunkow, YMCA CRS received funding from two contracts with the State Department of Education and operated out of one office. During that first year, CRS served 15,000 parents and children.
Today, YMCA CRS operates out of three offices throughout San Diego County and receives funding from 22 major contracts with the State Department of Education, County of San Diego, and First 5 Commission, among other sources. YMCA CRS currently serves more than 67,000 parents and children annually with a budget of over $30 million.
