Types of Funding
General Funds:Participants are enrolled from the Centralized Eligibility List (CEL) in rank order according to family size and income. The state median income level and need requirements must be met and current at the time of enrollment. Child care services are not guaranteed and are based on available funding.
Stage 2:
Adult recipients are eligible for Stage 2 funding if they:
- Meet the state median income level and need requirements
- Receive cash aid and participate in CalWORKs or their cash aid case has been closed within the last 24 months
- Are deemed stable by their employment case manager
Stage 3:
Clients who have timed out (cash aid case closed for 24 months) are transferred to Stage 3 funding if they continue to meet the state median income level and need requirements. Child care services are not guaranteed and are based on available funding. We encourage families who are about to time out of Stage 2 to apply on CEL.
After School Education and Safety Programs and/or 21st Century Community Learning Centers are the preferred enrollment for 11- and 12-year-old children. Families can continue to receive subsidized child care services for all or part of their child care needs if one of the before or after school programs is unavailable. These programs are administered by the California Department of Education. To find program locations, click this link: http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r8/ases05result.asp.
