SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.
Preschool for All
The Preschool for All program provides voluntary access to preschool, regardless of family
income. This free program offers preschool three hours a day, five days a week, 180 days a year in the following selected areas:
- Escondido
- Lemon Grove
- Mt. Empire
- National City
- San Ysidro
- South Bay
- Valley Center/Pauma
- Vista
Target areas were selected based on a needs assessment by the American Institutes for Research, focusing on the following criteria:
- High percentage of low API scores
- High percentage of children eligible for free and reduced cost lunch
- High percentage of ELL students, low percentage of children in early education programs, small enough school district community for systematic impact in five years

San Diego County Preschool for All (PFA) is a five-year demonstration project, funded by the First 5 Commission of San Diego to:
- Ensure a quality preschool experience.
- Provide families with a wide variety of preschool settings.
- Be inclusive of children with special needs.
For Families
Eligibility guidelines:
- Child must be four years old to qualify (three or four years old in National City).
- Child's family must live within certain elementary school neighborhoods within the eight communities.

Choose from a list of PFA providers; contact them directly to determine enrollment availability.
Become a Preschool for All Provider
- Review Operating Guidelines and Selection Criteria (Center or Family Child Care).
- Submit a letter of intent (Center or Family Child Care).
- Submit an application.
