Check out the Special Education Advocacy Academy in Los Angeles. It’s a hands-on course that teaches you how to advocate for special education services for students. The first session is on February 4 but there are also three more events in April, August and November.

The 21st Century Education Symposium is on February 11 and 12. Learn about evidence-based practices to address communication skills in children and adolescents with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Download the registration form here.

The City of San Diego Park & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) program provides sports, recreation, leisure and outreach services to San Diegans with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Check out their quarterly calendar here for a list of activities.

We have fun activities planned! We will be making our own fresh fruit salad, popcorn and dip and veggies! Parents, be sure to sign up at the Parent Resource table to bring a snack for our party!

Sign Language club continues! Have you been practicing your ASL fingerspelling? We are also learning to sign basic colors (very helpful for playing “UNO” cards!)

Yoga Club will start up again! We will get ourselves moving! We exercise and eat well to be happy and healthy!

TEEN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM


Teens in Motion

  • We are an after school program that provides supervision and support to high school students with disabilities who have working parents.
  • We are dedicated to providing a more inclusive, richer high school experience for students with disabilities.
  • We are designed to enhance the academic and social development of students with disabilities.
  • We also support parents and serve their respite needs.

Teens in Motion runs at Valhalla High and Clairemont High Monday through Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.

Applicants should qualify for Regional Center child care or Regional Center out-of-home respite care. All other applicants pay the full cost for the program. Payment options include a daily or weekly rate.
