What we learned from blackout 2011
On September 8, a widespread blackout hit San Diego County, Baja California, parts of Arizona and other areas. Was your child care program and your home ready for this unexpected emergency?
Here are some lessons we learned about the blackout.
- Purchase an old-fashion phone that plugs directly into the phone connection (no electricity is needed)
- Purchase a hand crank radio and set it to KOGO 600 AM
- Follow these Twitter feeds for more information in the event of an emergency:@211sd, @KOGORadio, @ReadySanDiego @SDICredcross, @SDSheriff
- 'Like' our YMCA CRS Facebook Page for more information in the event of an emergency.
- Start a Facebook or Twitter account to keep your parents informed.
- Make sure you have enough bottled water for every person. There should be 3 gallons of water for every person in your care (including adults and children).
